Kofun

What are kofun? Kofun literally means “old grave”. They are ancient Japanese burial mound built between the early 3rd century and early 7th century AD.

There are many of these tombs in Kyushu. Posts on this page are related to Kofun and include my trips to various Kofun mounds around Kyushu.

Mizumachi Ruins Park (水町遺跡公園)
